Apps
I will be using multiple apps to track my blood sugar and analyze trends throughout this journey. These apps help me analyze my blood sugar spikes and other patterns caused by eating certain types of foods, and their healthier alternatives.
GlucoseBuddy
This app is designed specifically for people monitoring blood glucose. GlucoseBuddy allows you to log blood glucose manually or sync with some CGMs, in addition to tracking carbohydrates, medications, insulin doses, and activity. I will be using GlucoseBuddy to track my blood sugar and analyze trends, such as how long it takes for my blood glucose to return to baseline, and how much my blood glucose spikes after eating something.
Calorie Intake Apps
MyFitnessPal
A popular app for logging meals and understanding nutritional content.
What it helps with:
- Tracking calories and macronutrients (carbohydrates, protein, fat)
- Viewing micronutrients (such as vitamins and minerals)
- Using a barcode scanner for quick food entry
- Identifying how many carbohydrates you consume at each meal
Because carbohydrates have the greatest effect on blood sugar, this app helps users be more aware of carb intake and portion sizes.
MyNetDiary
Another strong nutrition tracker with features tailored for people monitoring blood sugar.
What it helps with:
- Detailed carbohydrate tracking
- Easy meal logging with a large food database
- Charts that connect meals with glucose readings
- Support for weight and activity tracking
