Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs)
Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs) are wearable medical devices that measure glucose levels just under the skin and send readings to a smartphone app in real time. A small sensor placed on the arm or abdomen checks glucose frequently throughout the day and night, helping users see trends, spikes, and drops as they happen. Continuous Glucose Monitors require a prescription under the age of 18, specifically for diabetics, but are now available for purchase for 18+ without a prescription.
As a 16-year-old non-diabetic, I am unable to purchase and use a CGM myself, which is why I use a glucometer to take my blood sugar readings.
